You specialize in helping homeowners who have had trouble selling their home. What's the biggest mistake people make when trying to sell their home?
They have an unreal expectation of their home's value or showing condition. For the seller, it's their home, not a house they are trying to sell. They are blind to cosmetic repairs or upgrades needed. It's their prized possession and they may not be ready to see it through the eyes of a buyer. I also think people are ill prepared for the process of buying or selling a house. It's stressful; time consuming, demanding and intrusive.
Pack up what you are not using, clean up the property and keep it clean. Those are key on how to improve your chances of selling a home quickly.
If there were one thing missing in home inspections today, what would it be?
Education of the process. Homeowners are not prepared for the inspection process. No one tells them to make attic openings accessible, or to remove locks from breaker boxes.
Buyers are not well educated on the realities of Home Inspection and what will and won't be found in the short time of inspecting. New Realtors also need to understand the process. Everyone needs to know the right questions to ask. They also need education on the environmental issues, things like mold, radon gas, asbestos or lead based paint.
Considering that in most states home inspectors are not licensed, what questions should be asked to find the best home inspector possible?
How knowledgeable is the inspector? What's their construction background, what type of continuing education do they have, and how long have they inspected in your area? Mostly, you want to know that they know what they're looking at. You also need to ask about the cost, day and time of the report. Most importantly, make sure you feel comfortable with the inspector and that you trust them completely.
What's the difference between what you do and Feng Shui?
I work with the energy under your home and how it relates to your body, your emotions and your thoughts. Feng Shui primarily works with how energy moves through your home or office. The two have many similarities and many Feng Shui Practitioners balance the Earth energy before they balance the interior of the home. But the focus changes to placement of objects to draw things to you with Feng Shui, and I teach conscious thought to bring those opportunities to you using a different tool set.
What kind of tips can you offer for creating a home sanctuary?
Think of the colors you are using. Are they calming or do they excite you? Does the environment need to be cleared or balanced? Use tone, incenses or essential oils that make you feel calm and peaceful, use relaxing music to soothe you. Be clear on your personal boundaries and have an area of your home designed just for you. Even it it's a chair in the family's room, it's your space and you know that when you sit there you are in a sacred and protected space.
You have the unique distinction of being a student of geobiology and earth acupuncture. How does this help you in your home inspections?
It allows me to look at the total home, not only the structure and mechanical issues, but also, the health of the home. I am trained to look for clues of the Earth's energy system's effects on a home or property and I can bring it to my client's attention without alarming them. If for example, my client tells me they are a cancer survivor and their prospective home is surrounded by high voltage electrical wiring, I might share information regarding studies on the effects of electro magnetic pollution and the health of the physical body. I can also help them balance most of the effects from those high voltage wires. Geobiology allows me to be holistic in my approach to Home Inspection and Real Estate Consulting. I can share thoughts and impressions on the whole package of house and land. For many people it is important to have as much information as possible prior to buying a home. I give them one more piece not many others are trained to share in Real Estate.
You also call yourself a house psychic who helps homeowners discover the soul of their home. Can you elaborate?
Every home has a heart. You can feel it when you enter a home where there has been a lot of love. It's the type of home you just want to hang out in and feel comfortable in. Like energy will attract like energy. The same is true of thought forms, which are also energy. If I think certain thoughts I can feel or sense if those thought forms are present in the home. I am like an antenna that is able to pick up the signals left on the land or created within the home by those who have lived there. I can also teach people how to be an antenna. When a home has been on the market for a long time, sometimes an emotional fear block is in place preventing the sale of the home. Once I ask for details, I know what needs to be done to release the block so the property can sell. I'm honored to have this gift and thrilled that I can teach it to others.
